[What is Rotary Club]
Rotary is an international organization of approximately 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, called Rotarians, perform humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all their professions, and contribute to the establishment of goodwill and peace in the world. There are more than 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and territories. The club is an organization open to all cultures, races and creeds, regardless of particular politics or religion. As symbolized by Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” Rotary’s primary purpose is service in our communities, workplaces, and the world. Rotarians meet weekly to plan community service projects that address some of the most serious issues of our time, including child advocacy in crisis, poverty and hunger relief, the environment, literacy, and violence. Additionally, we support youth programs, promote career development, and provide educational opportunities and international exchange programs for students, teachers, and other professionals.
